The way to Macapa

My first Amazonian trip started from Belem, the city where humidity in the air can reach levels around 110%… From Belem you can take a boat to Macapa. El Coronel Jose Julio, almost 100 years old and a noisy engine, will take a bit more than 24 hours to reach Macapa. Your bed will be your hammock, the wind will keep the mosquitos away, the main activity will be to enjoy the sunset show (included in the ticket’s price). The perfect transportation to travel slow and slowly enjoying the view of Amazon, its villages and its people. If you’re lucky enough you can also spot a dolphin!

In Macapa you can choose between visiting the fortress, playing football, doing some kite surf on the Amazon delta, walking on the invisible line of the equator…or just doing nothing at all!
